Seafood companies shortlisted in 2017 Green Awards

Four Irish seafood companies have been shortlisted in the '2017 Green Awards' that recognise excellence and best green practice.
Organised by Event Strategies, the finalists in the 'Green Seafood Business Award' category sponsored by BIM, were nominated for their 'outstanding efforts to improve their local environment imprint through reduced energy, water consumption and waste prevention management'.
In 2015, Island Seafoods beat off strong competition from blue chip companies Coca Cola, Glanbia and Dairygold, along with high technology companies, to win the overall 'Green Business of the Year'. In 2016, Sofrimar won the 'Green Seafood Business Award'.
2017 finalists are Burren Smokehouse, Co Clare; Fisherman's Coop, Castletownbere, Co Cork; Irish Fish Canners, Co Donegal and Woodstown Bay Shellfish Ltd, Co Waterford.
The event takes place on February 21 in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge, Co Dublin.
