"Visiting rowers were more than surprised with the splendour of the city's river environment," remarked Gary McMahon, Ilen School director, who plans to develop the race into an international annual river event for Limerick- a dynamic confluence of strong Atlantic tides and flooding land waters.

The Ilen School and Network for Wooden Boat Building in Limerick City teaches the craft of local boat design building.
